MASTER BATHROOM PROJECT

Kitchen and Bathroom Design Fall 2022

This is the project I have enjoyed working on most so far at MATC. For this project we drew inspiration from popular art pieces, fashion, or music and designed a master bathroom around our selected piece. I chose the iconic outfit worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's and wanted the master bath to have a luxurious yet minimalist design that exuded femininity. The blue tiling was my nod to the Tiffany blue and was the pop of color in this otherwise neutral-toned, relaxing bathroom. I think the bathroom I designed is a perfect place to relax and unwind in. I was given a blank canvas of a room with no windows, doors, or interior walls, and I started off by hand drafting some different master bath layouts before creating my final floor plan in AutoCAD. I created a full construction document set with the floor plan, elevations, finish legend/schedule and a furniture legend. I also created a 3D rendering in SketchUp. I then presented my design to my classmates and teacher as if they were my client.

KITCHEN REMODEL

Kitchen and Bathroom Design Fall 2022

This project was a great utilization of my knowledge and skills I gained during my Summer 2022 internship with Property Revision. We were tasked with remodeling our client's kitchen and had complete freedom to change the current floor plan to best suit our client's needs. My clients were a millennial couple that wanted an eco-friendly kitchen that they could grow into as they start a family. In preparation of my kitchen design, I performed extensive research to learn the typical cooking, cleaning, and storage habits of millenials. I was given the original floor plan and first created 3 loose, hand-sketched floorpan options along with 3 separate mood boards. I then developed my final floorpan in AutoCAD where I also created a complete construction document set. I crafted physical boards with my samples of my applied materials along with images from my SketchUp model. Overall, my design was simplistic yet modern with two-toned cabinetry, a built-in eating nook and butler's pantry. I used natural wood tones and materials throughout to make a bright, welcoming, and cohesive space.

HOME REMODEL

Residential Design Spring 2022

For this project we were given an empty floor plan and asked to design a space with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, dining room, and a laundry area. This space was very small and required a lot of creativity and reworking in order to fit all of the specified rooms inside. The clients for this project were a young couple who purchased a second vacation home in Jupiter, Florida that they were completely remodeling. First I created a mood board to display the overall aesthetic and design style I planned to implement. Then I developed a couple floor plan layout options in AutoCAD that I annotated by hand and received feedback on. Then I moved on to creating the final floorpan in AutoCAD and ultimately a complete construction document set. I also created a furniture specification guide to identify the furniture used throughout the space. Overall, I wanted the space to feel airy and light and incorporate nature throughout my design through the use of natural woods and printed wallpapers.

SHE-SHED DESIGN

Residential Studio Spring 2022

This was one of the most realistic and fun projects I worked on. We had a real life client, Colleen, who had built the structure for a she-shed, but left the inside completely unfinished. I had the privilege of meeting her at her home and getting to see her unfinished she-shed. I took all of the field measurements of the structure and interviewed her about her wants and needs for her she-shed. She loved the shabby chic aesthetic and needed designated storage space for her gardening tools and pond chemicals. She also wanted an area to do crafts with her grandkids and maybe somewhere to drink wine with her girl friends. Luckily, there was already electricity wired in the she-shed so the possibilities were endless. After taking the field measurements, I got to work on creating the floor plan in AutoCAD. I then began space planning and determining what layout would be the most functional for Colleen. After getting all of the furniture selected and placed inside AutoCAD, I created a 3D model in SketchUp. Finally, I created my final presentation boards and shared my vision for the she-shed with Colleen.
